A podcast in English for true crime freaks with a french twist.
Hi, I’m Carlotasweb (or Charlie for our listeners). I co-host on The French Chronicles podcast with my friend Caroline about French true crimes but in English that occurred in France and Quebec.
The French Chronicles True Crime Podcast
We are both French girls who immigrated to Montreal, met in an office, and have been friends ever since.
It was Caroline’s idea to start a podcast as she not only enjoys listening to them but is a freak when it comes to true crime. She asked me to join her on this journey and I said YES. Oddly enough, I don’t particularly listen to podcasts nor am I a true crime freak either.
However, as you might already know, I do enjoy doing research and since I am an ‘eclectic’ person, I told myself: why not try doing a podcast about True Crime!
We started recording our podcasts right before Covid exploded and a week before I left on my trip to Vietnam. Luckily, Caroline is resourceful, and we managed to continue to make our recordings virtually. Thank you Facebook Messenger, Google Drive, and Audacity.
More often than not, you’ll even get to hear my two lovely dogs in the background who always think it’s a good time to mess around when we are recording. Poor Caroline, my dogs make her work extra to try to edit out their sounds.

Who is Caroline?
Hi! My name is Caroline and I’m a True Crime Freak.
I caught the True Crime bug not long ago, and to be totally honest I have no idea how the idea to listen to a True Crime podcast came to me. I just know that once I hit play on my first scary podcast, I never looked back.
By the end of 2019, I thought: well, this is all great but I would like to hear some True Crime from my home country of France. Since there weren’t any in English, I thought: let’s do this!
As I love the co-host format above all others, I immediately thought that Charlie would be maybe crazy enough to join me on this adventure. And she did!
When I’m not either doing research or editing, I’m a mom, wife, employee AND small business owner (I’m a photographer), and dog and cat owner… So that leaves me with basically no free time. But I do enjoy playing World of Warcraft (druid all the way) and Hearthstone, and chillin’ in front of Netflix.
Where to listen to The French Chronicles
Our podcasts talk about sad things, yet somehow, we always manage to get a good laugh in, start singing (me mostly), swear (a lot). We do have a lot of fun and we hope that you will enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoyed recording them.
